Wilma's gone from a little bitty tropical storm into "the strongest" hurricane the Atlantic has ever seen?! Yikes!
882 mb of pressure. This is the lowest ever. Gilbert in 1988 was 888 mb. That is apparently what makes it stronger or weaker.
I used to think that living on a tropical island would be so great, but I will stay with the snow, thank you very much!

UPDATE: Just for perspective: Katrina was the 6th most powerful hurricane, Rita was the 4th and now Wilma is the most powerful hurricane on record!
The NHC is also saying that there is a chance that once Wilma goes across the Keys of Florida, it could not only head out into the Atlantic and regain strength, but that it could also come right back into the US coast...at about New England! Where they are still trying to recover from their recent deluge of rain and flooding!

MATANZAS WESTWARD THROUGH PINAR DEL RIO...AND FOR THE ISLE OF
YOUTH. A HURRICANE WATCH MEANS THAT HURRICANE CONDITIONS ARE
